2017 marks the 10th birthday of MOs Design, and what better way to celebrate a decade of bringing together art and design than to introduce a new brand that shares in its passion and people-centric approach.

 

Launched in August of 2007, MOs Design started with four brands furnishing its three floors, with BoConcept and Natuzzi Italia holding the first and second floors respectively. Brands have come and gone over the years, helping MOs Design expand its repertoire of international furniture brands. Each brand has its own unique set of values, tastes, and concepts that, when placed in the showroom, mix together into an expressive amalgam of design and art.

 
 


 
 

In time with this momentous occasion, MOs Design welcomes Sancal into the fold. Sancal is a Spanish furniture brand rooted in innovation that is approachable, sensible, and practical. Each of its pieces is brightly coloured by the stories of global designers and the vibrant creative culture of its hometown in Yecla.

 

MOs Design’s 10th anniversary was celebrated in the design gallery, located on the third floor and home to iconic designer brands Vitra, Ligne Roset, Tom Dixon, Anglepoise, and Carl Hansen & Søn.

 
 


 
 

The Food and Wine

 

Chef Markus Gfeller of CAV never fails to impress, serving traditional Spanish dishes with his trademark twists that will have guests looking for another bite. The Merienda Snack Bar was served in the afternoon, giving guests a selection of finger food such as the Bacalao Croquetas, Jamon Monte Cristo Sandwiches, Chorizo and Leek Tortas, Plantain Buñuelos with Chili Chocolate Ganache, and Shrimp Churros with Garlic Aioli. To go along with these sumptous bites Chef Gfeller prepared an alcohol-free Strawberry Basil punch to pair with the light snacks.

 

Come evening, the Merienda Snacks gave way to the Pintxos Bar menu, adding Avocado Gazpacho, Manchego and Patatas Tortilla, Shallot Torta with Queso Ice Cream, Beef and Bean empanada, Tuna with Black Sesame Crisp Salad, Calamari with Tomato and Chimichurri, and Plantain Buñuelos in Burnt Butter Ice Cream. In place of the punch was a Strawberry Basil Cocktail with a hint of rum.

 

Served throughout the event was the Sumiller by Manny O., a single varietal wine made from grapes from the Spanish town of Yecla—the very same town where Sancal is from. With its intense dark cherry color and hints of chocolate and sweet tannins, it paired exceptionally well with all the food served at the event.

 
 

The Music

 

DJ Migs Santillan of Magic 89.9 spun a playlist consisting of Trap and Futurebass music to reflect the lightness and creativity of both MOs Design and Sancal. He followed with a bit of New Wave to bring the energy up, ending the event on a high note.

 
 

What a colourful and delightful way to celebrate the launching of a new brand and the 10th birthday of MOs Design! MOs Design has shown the design industry how it started from scratch and now it has been climbing up, chasing dream after dream to achieve its goals. Truly, looks does not matter—with its building’s exterior in black—and what matters most is what is inside.
